August 31, 2019. BLF Press Five-Year Anniversary and BFTF Launch Party!

BLF Press turns five years old this August, and we want to celebrate our success with YOU! Join us at Charis Books and More on August 31st from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to celebrate five years of amplifying Black women’s writing and the release of our upcoming publication, Black From the Future: A Collection of Speculative Fiction. Charis Books and More is the South’s oldest independent feminist bookstore, and we are excited to hold our event in their new space. Light hors d’oeuvres and sparkling beverages will be served.


April 6, 2019, Unbox Your Creativity, Johnston County Writers Conference

Join BLF Press publisher and editor-in-chief Dr. Stephanie Andrea Allen in her workshop, The Road to Publication, where she’ll discuss small press publishing, (as well as other models), writing/publishing goals, and how to prepare your MS for submission. BLF Press will be in attendance at AWP 2019 in Portland, Oregon. Our publisher and editor-in-chief Stephanie Andrea Allen will be presenting on the panel “Elements of Small Press Success.” Be sure to come by and see what she has to say about running a small feminist press.

I’ll be representing BLF Press at the North Carolina Writer’s Network Fall Conference. If you’re in the area, make sure to join the “writingest” state at its semi-annual literary conference.

July 5-9, 2017, Golden Crown Literary Society

I will be co-facilitating the workshop “Go Where You Are Loved: Creating Sustainable Writing Communities for Lesbians of Color” at GCLS. Stephanie Andrea Allen will be participating in a reading and discussion on Black lesbian and queer women of color in literature, publishing, and the importance of supportive writing communities.
